6.7′ x 7.2′ Pull Down Black Screen

As large as the carton this arrived in, it is surprisingly easy to handle by one person once it's out of the carton. The packing kept the screen isolated from the cardboard, resting in foam blocks that centered it down the length of the box with lots of clearance. I had no problems lifting it high overhead to gauge where I was going to mount it for trials. I shoot in a loft that has no vertical walls or horizontal ceiling. It's like a chalet but calls for ingenuity when it comes to things like rigging up staging or backdrops.The weight of the backdrop was safely suspended from two handyman clamps and stout connectors. The spring retention for the roller on this unit is firm so I gingerly pulled it one or two feet at a time to judge my progress safely, until it was touching the floor. All good. Better safe than sorry.For retraction, to test out the description that this will roll itself under control back into the metal enclosure I quickly got the feel of the motions to make so it would keep retracting when I stopped pulling down. Also I detected a 'click' sound from the enclosure that was my hint it had just switched into retraction mode. The notes mention it will retract at safe speeds that will depend on ambient temperature. My room is at 25°C and it took 6 seconds for the last meter of exposed screen to be pulled up into the enclosure.OK, the actual screen material. IT IS BLACK. IT IS STIFF. Some of the photos might give the impression it is a grey-black but the total blackout is what I was actually seeing. The material is like a doubled or triple bonded tarp in stiffness and in how opaque it is. I have a SCUBA divers light and I could put it on high and hold it against the material from the back and . . . nothing. No indication there was anything on the other side of the backdrop. It has a matte finish too with a very tight 'weave' that is only visible up close. I never had to adjust for it in processing.

Great background product for doing my voiceover demo's. It pulls down, and retracts at a nice smooth speed. Just make sure it is securely attached to the ceiling.

I am not a professional photographer or youtuber or anything like that but I do like to dabble with making videos and taking nice photographs. This really helps with that as it is easy to have a nice stable background for photos or videos. There is no light going to bleed through this material and it is a nice matte finish so you aren't going to have to worry about reflections and stuff on the material. When I saw the size of the box I wondered what I had gotten myself into but my worrying was for nothing as it is easy to hang up and put away by yourself when finished. I like the black and I am considering to get a second green so I can use it as a green screen....i tried to do this in the past with other screen materials but it just wouldn't work well because of all the wrinkles. These wrinkles are not something you would have to worry about with this product though. Nice piece of kit to add to your equipment both for a pro and for an amateur like me.

I'm very pleased with the black screen I ordered. I've used it to make several videos and am impressed at how well it absorbs the large amount of light I shone on it. I broke (one of) the sheetrock anchors that came with it, and decided the wood paneling on that wall over the sheetrock would likely hold the mounting screws well enough - and it did. I plan to move this to another wall to act as a blackout over a window looking into an interior entertainment room once I finish remodeling, but for now it's fine where it is and the material just eats up the light. Very black and looks professional (which it should) on video. Now having the black, I want to order the green one so I don't have to mess with the green "blanket" I have to hang whenever I want green screen instead of black.

Got this to improve the setup in my office studio, and it is awesome! Set up took about 15 minutes with a power drill. The whole backdrop weighs about 13 lbs, so it is easy to transport. Keep in mind that the length is almost 79 inches. This is perfect for live streaming, creating videos, recording simple portrait-style videos, and also portrait photography. Huge fan of the retractable feature as it is space-saving. Overall, this is definitely worth considering since it is in the lower 100-dollar range. Worth.
